Intro

What began as a simple idea to visit Oaxaca, one of México’s most famous cultural capitals, during Dia de los Muertos, one of Mexico’s most vibrant cultural experiences — morphed (not surprisingly) into a week-long road trip covering 5 states and the Distrito Federal!

Oaxaca’s bustling markets, colorful festivals, and lively cemeteries (oxymoron?) during the Day of the Dead celebrations were fascinating, and

Citadelle Laferrière, Milot, Haïti

After a long trek up this majestic mountain – first by foot, then by car, and finally on horseback – to be rewarded with this incredible sweeping view… then to realize you have this amazingly preserved citadel, Haïti’s one and only UNESCO World Heritage Site, all to yourself… how could you not smile?
