Columbus Park, Discovery Bay
I was excited to see where Columbus first set foot on Jamaica in 1494 at this park on appropriately-named Discovery Bay – until I found out that this actually isn’t where he landed! Historians have since found the actual spot near St. Ann’s Bay, where there is a small, hidden-away statue of the explorer. Columbus Park is still worth a visit, with a lot of interesting historical artifacts from around Jamaica, including old cannons and the remains of an old sugar estate aqueduct.
